Neutrogena Healthy Volume Mascara

Product: Neutrogena Healthy Volume Mascara in Carbon Black.  It comes in 2 other shades: Black & Black/Brown as well as a waterproof version.

Price:  $
I got a free sample of this when I bought Neutrogena's makeup remover at Walmart.  Normally, it would cost $7.47.  It goes along the same price range as most Neutrogena products.

Packaging:  ♦ ♦ ♦
Neutrogena Healthy Volume Mascara comes in a long sliver tube with a screw on top.  The applicator is a long, thick, and dense bristle brush that tapers on the end.  I think the brush is a bit too long though.  It's almost the length of my eye.  Sometime if I'm not careful, I hit the wand on my cheek or nose  and get mascara on my face.

Claim:  This lash-enhancing mascara instantly builds lash volume by 400%. The patent-pending formula with a touch of olive oil penetrates and helps plump the core of each and every lash. The Visible Volume Brush coats and builds even the smallest lashes with rich, volume-building color. No clumps, smudging or flaking!  Also Dematologist & Ophthalmologist tested.

Ingredients:  Isododecane, Water, Beeswax, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Glyceryl Hydrogenated Rosinate, Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax, Trimethylsiloxysilicate/Dimethiconol Copolymer, Acrylates/Ethylhexyl Acrylate Copolymer, Acrylates/Ethylhexyl Acrylate Copolymer, C18-36 Acid Triglyceride, Cyclopentasiloxane, Vp/Eicosene Copolymer, Polybutene, Silica, Black 2, Ozokerite, Polymethylsilsesquioxane, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Leci-Ethylene/Styrene Copolymer, Isohexadecane, Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein Pg-Propyl Silanetriol, Limnanthes Alba (Meadowfoam) Seed Oil, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Propylene Carbonate, Propylene Glycol, Polyglyceryl-4 Isostearate, Cetyl Peg/Ppg-10/1 Dimethicone, Hexyl Laurate, Trimethysiloxysilicate, Acrylates/Dimeticone Copolymer, Polyethylene, Caprylyl Glycol, Sodium Chloride, Cetyl Hydroxyethycellulose, Pentaerythrityl Tetra-Di-T-Butyl Hydroxyhydrocinnamate, Sorbic Acid, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance (1396-67).

Pros:
  • Did not Smudge, Flake, or Clump
  • Defined & Separated my Lashes
  • Safe on Eyes
  • Doesn't Dry Too Quickly
Cons:
  • Didn't See Volume
Final Verdict:  ♥ ♥
This was the first time I've tried a Neutrogena mascara and I was kinda left blah.  The first thing I notice with this mascara was the size of the brush.  I like that it was thick but I didn't like how long the brush actually was.  I'm Asian, so I don't really have large eyes and the brush is as long as my eye.  Other then that, I like the brush.  I think it gets all of my lashes and applies well.  There's never too much product when you apply so it doesn't clump.  The mascara doesn't dry too quickly either.  This is good for multiple application so it doesn't clump.  I also didn't see any issues with smudging or flaking.
So why does this mascara make me feel blah?... Simply, because I didn't see any volume.  After all it is a "volume mascara".  I thought that it applied well and defined my lashes but I didn't think it gave me volume.  If they didn't call it a volume mascara, I wouldn't be as bothered by it.  But since they did, it didn't live up to it's name.  This mascara could be good for your lashes but it just didn't perform.  I think this mascara would be good for everyday wear but it wasn't anything special.

  • Light on your skin
  • Medium coverage
  • Not Thick
  • Doesn't clog my pores
Cons:
  • You have to shake well
  • Can make you oily after awhile
Final Verdict: ♥ ♥ ♥
I first saw this product on tv with the Jennifer Garner commercials. It sounded really good so I decided to try it. I really really like this product. I've used MAC Fix Fluid or Revlon ColorStay and they tend to be very thick. Neutrogena's Healthy Skin is very liquidy. To apply this product, first, make sure to shake it really well. I like using a sponge with this product over a brush but if I did use a brush I'd use a MAC 187 of 188. When you apply it, it feels very light while still giving you medium coverage. What I really like about this foundation is that it looks very natural on my skin. Even people have said that I look like had a glow about me. It doesn't look like I'm wearing foundation. I don't know if it improved my skin but it works great. My only issue with it is that I have combination skin and after a while I can look really oily. I off set this by using a powder to set my makeup and using oil absorbing sheets through out the day. My only other wish for this is that I wish it came with a pump because it is so liquidy. I definitely think this product is worth a try.

April Makeup Haul

So this month I've bought a few things to add to my growing makeup collection. There were some good deals out there. Hopefully, I'll be able to review these products soon. Here's what I bought:

E.L.F products are always inexpensive (most things are under $5) but they had a 50% off sale on their studio line, which are usually $3 each, so I advantage of trying out some of products. I was surprisingly please with how good the products were.
  • 4 E.L.F Studio Line Blushes
  • E.L.F Studio Line Blush/Bronzer Duo
  • Eye Lash Curler
  • 2 Professional Line Brushes
  • Makeup Remover Cleansing Cloths
From Sephora I bought 2 gift sets from Nars. Plus I had free shipping for spending over $50.
  • Dolce Vita Gift Set: Nars Blush/Bronzer Duo & Dolce Vita Lipgloss
  • So Famous Set: Deep Throat Blush, Bettena Lip Liner, Mini Orgasm the Multiple
  • Sephora Daily Brush Cleaner
From Walmart I bought Neutrogena products.
  • Neutrogena Makeup Remover Towelettes
  • Healthy Skin Foundation
From Cherry Culture I bought some NYX lip products that they had on sale. Cherry Culture usually has NYX products at a lower cost then what you would get from the NYX site or store.
  • NYX Round Lipstick
  • NYX Round Lip Gloss
From MAC I bought: (Shipping was free for $50 & over purchases)
  • Prep + Prime Lip
  • 4 Eyeshadow & Quad Palette
  • Paint Pot in Soft Ochre
From Walgreens I bought:
  • Bio Oil
  • 4 Maybelline Color Sensational Lipsticks

Neutogena Acne Stress Control

I have been using Neutrogena's Oil Free Acne Stress Control for several months now. I have the Foam Wash, Toner, 3-in-1 Hydrating Acne Treatment, and Exfoliating Scrub. There are other products that are part of the line but this is what I've been using. I bought them at Walmart for $6.97 each. The Power-Foam Wash is a 6 fl oz bottle, the Triple Action Toner is an 8 fl oz bottle, the Power-Clean Scrub is a 4.2 fl oz squeeze tube, and the 3-in-1 Hydrating Acne Treatment is a 2 fl oz tube. It's a good deal for the amount you get.All the products are oil free and contain varied amounts of salicylic acid depending on which product you us. This line of claims to treat acne even before it emerges.
I really like these products. For as long I've used them I haven't had any major breakouts. If I see a pimple starting to come out during the day, I clean my face at night and it will be gone by the next morning. I especially like that it doesn't dry out my skin. Other products I've used would over dry my skin or it would sting my skin because it was harsh. These products have my vote.

Final Verdict
FYI: I have combination skin with mild acne.
Pro: Gentle on skin, Hydrating, Works Against Acne
Con: None

Neutrogena: Advanced Solutions Complete Acne Therapy System

I've used this product for months now and I've seen an improvement with my skin. I had mild acne and now I rarely ,if ever, break-out. The only time I seem to breakout is during my period. I think it's helped with my skin tone and help fade old acne scars. I have sensitive skin so I have to be careful about face products because they can dry out my skin and make it feel like it's burning. At first it did dry out my skin around my cheeks but now I don't have that problem and this product doesn't burn.
This product comes in three parts.  A face wash, a day cream, and a night cream.  The face wash is mild cleanser that contains salicylic acid to fight acne.  It also contains fine microbeads to gently exfoliate your skin with every use.  The day cream is an oil-free lotion that, aside from fighting acne, contains SPF 15.  No matter the season, skin damage from the sun can happen. And sometime certain acne medication are sensitive to sunlight so it's nice that you have a little sun protection. The night cream contains benzoyl peroxide and sorta makes your face feel like it's getting tighten.  The downside of the night lotion is that it clumps when you apply it on your face.
I bought Neutrogena Advanced Solution at Walmart for $17.99.  You can also find it at most drugstore or grocery stores for around that same price.  The product has been compared to Proactive.  I've never use Proactive so I can't say if it's better.  Other products of the same line are available in individual sales.

Review:
Pro: Works well without drying the skin.  The day lotion has SPF 15
Con: The night lotion clumps as you apply on your face.
